SMART goals [worksheet]

    Setting goals helps us to gain more clarity about what we want to achieve and how we want to achieve them. Goals can be formed in different spheres of life. They could entail some personal goals such as those including enhancing our self-esteem, improving self-image etc., professional goals such as increasing productivity and attention etc., and relationship goals such as establishing boundaries with a specific person, strengthening an existing relationship or repairing a former one.

    The pandemic has definitely made life difficult. It is the uncertainty associated with the situation that evokes anxiety in us, which often leads us to lose sight of our goals and responsibilities. This is especially so when we look back at the things that we were hopeful for and feel helpless and uncertain about them in the present.

    The current worksheet has been developed with the aim of helping you to retain that strength that you have in you to not lose sight of your short-term and long-term goals. You can approach your goal-setting process by making a list of SMART goals.

    A     Attainable

    R    Realistic

    T   Time-bound

    Every time you make a goal, ask yourself:

    Specific – How best can I describe my goal?

    Measurable – Can I measure my progress in achieving the goal? If so, how?

    Attainable – Is the goal attainable based on the resources and skills I have?

    Realistic – How realistic is my goal?

    Time- bound – Is there a specific period I can achieve the goal in?
